kangaroo island community education

About Parndana Campus

Parndana Campus is a P-12 site of 178 students located in the centre of Kangaroo Island in the rural township of Parndana. A strong community feel is a key feature of the campus as students’ transition from Playgroup to Preschool and then to Reception and their formal years of schooling through to Year 12.

Students are encouraged to follow strong academic and vocational pathways whilst remaining focused on being a valuable citizen who contributes to the community. Agricultural Science is a major curriculum focus; the school’s “farm” comprises of 10 hectares and provides for a program that includes animal husbandry, cropping, apiary, horticulture, and aquaculture. The KI Skills Centre which was opened in 2004 drives a learning program that has aquaculture at its heart. Both agriculture and aquaculture are a focus of the Parndana school community for Kangaroo Island Community Education. Students to engage in real life learning with transferable skills and visitors are encouraged and welcome to visit and see for themselves the wonderful learning that develops from it.

Facilities such as a preschool, gymnasium, swimming pool, professional kitchen and civil construction facility are all on site as well as a school library and community hub which is situated at the entrance to the library.
